Independent Medical Examinations
Independent Medical Examinations (IME)
An independent medical evaluation, or IME exam, is an objective, third-party medical exam. The physical examination is performed by a specialist with qualifications relevant to the injury, who was not involved in the diagnosis and treatment of an individual. The physician has no doctor-patient relationship, but plays an important role in determining impairment and/or disability.
IME Program
Orthopedic One’s independent medical exam (IME) program provides insurance companies, claim administrators, patients, and attorneys with an expert, objective second opinion related to an injured patient’s condition and prognosis. This service is particularly important in cases involving workers comp claims, automobile accident injuries, or incidents that may involve liability issues.
The process starts with a thorough physician review of all medical records related to the claim, followed by a complete physical exam of the patient. The Orthopedic One physician then provides a comprehensive written review and evaluation.
