Orthopedic ONE Welcomes new Sports Medicine Physician, Jeffrey Backes, M.D.

Orthopedic ONE is pleased to announce the addition of Jeffrey Backes, M.D., to Ohio’s largest, physician-owned orthopedic practice. He will begin seeing patients on August 17 at both the Hilliard and Westerville locations. Dr. Backes recently completed his fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.

His specialties include: arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee including rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, and joint preservation procedures, as well as anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement, and minimally invasive total knee replacement.

He will join a comprehensive team of physicians, therapists, and athletic trainers at Orthopedic ONE with decades of experience treating athletes of all skill levels, including some of the most elite professional, collegiate, high school and club teams in central Ohio. “As a former athlete, I understand the impact an injury can have, and how important it is to work in partnership with your medical team to get the very best outcome,” said Dr. Backes. He brings with him unique training in the most advanced techniques available for shoulder, elbow, hip and knee injuries. “I look forward to serving the community and getting patients of all ages back to the activities they love,” Dr. Backes added.

A central Ohio native, Dr. Backes helped lead Upper Arlington High School to a state football title in 2001. He then played football at Northwestern University where he was a two-time Academic All-American and the 2005 National Scholar-Athlete of the Year. After earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, he returned home to Ohio to complete his orthopedic residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center where he earned several honors, including the prestigious American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons’ Clinical Award. During his time at the world-renowned Steadman-Hawkins Clinic he cared for amateur, collegiate and professional athletes including the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team.
