Orthopedic ONE Announces Four New Physicians Joining this Fall
Orthopedic ONE is proud to announce four new physicians joining our team this fall, bringing our total roster to nearly 70 orthopedic and musculoskeletal specialists. These new practitioners will begin accepting new patients as early as August across our central Ohio locations, including our expanding Canal Winchester office, our new Gahanna office opening in October, and our existing Grove City and Westerville locations.
Meet Orthopedic ONE’s Newest Physicians:
Jason Ferrel, M.D. – Accepting NEW Patients
Dr. Jason Ferrel, a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician, brings dual fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine and spine surgery to his practice. A Canton, Ohio native, Dr. Ferrel earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, graduating at the top of his class. He completed his orthopedic residency at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, where he was Chief Resident and received the John R. Kean Resident of the Year award. Dr. Ferrel furthered his expertise with a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Utah and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Ferrel first joined Orthopedic ONE in 2017, but recently took a year away from active practice to pursue additional fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the University of Kentucky. He is now available to see patients at our Gahanna/Reynoldsburg and Grove City offices, focusing on orthopedic surgery of the shoulder and knee and sports medicine conditions for athletes of all ages. He also treats cartilage injuries and utilizes ortho biologics as appropriate.
Jeremy Jones, M.D. – Accepting NEW Patients
Dr. Jeremy Jones is an Orthopedic Surgeon with specialized training in Orthopedic Spine Surgery. Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Jones earned his undergraduate degree from New York University and his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. He completed his orthopedic residency at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and a spine surgery fellowship at the Spine Institute of Arizona, where he trained under the President of the North American Spine Society.
With over 10 published research articles in high-impact journals, Dr. Jones has a keen interest in motion-preserving spine surgery and tailors his approach to restore patients’ quality of life. His expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preservation techniques, endoscopic spine surgery, navigated and robotic methods, as well as the treatment of degenerative spine conditions and spinal deformities.
Dr. Jones will see patients at Orthopedic ONE’s Canal Winchester and Grove City locations.
Kevin Smidt, M.D. – Accepting NEW Patients
Dr. Kevin Smidt is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee. Dr. Smidt brings extensive expertise in minimally invasive techniques and muscle-sparing anterior hip replacement. He is also a specialist in Mako Robotic Arm-Assisted procedures for total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty.
Dr. Smidt earned his undergraduate degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University, where he was a Division I Scholar Athlete. He completed his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and his orthopedic surgery residency at Louisiana State University Health in Shreveport. During his residency, he received numerous accolades, including the Chairman’s Awards for highest Orthopedic In-Training Examination score and Most Outstanding Resident, as well as the AAOS Resident of the Month and The Dr. David and Sharon Waddell Award for Orthopaedic Resident Excellence.
At LSU Health, Dr. Smidt served on the multidisciplinary tumor board and led the development of the “Joints Camp” program, a preoperative education initiative for total joint arthroplasty patients. He furthered his training with an Adult Reconstruction fellowship at Baptist Health South Florida in Coral Gables before returning to Columbus to join Orthopedic ONE.
Dr. Smidt will see patients at Orthopedic ONE’s Canal Winchester location.
Heather Fuhrman, M.D. – Accepting patients beginning Nov. 11
Dr. Heather Fuhrman is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with specialized fellowship training in Foot & Ankle surgery.
Dr. Fuhrman earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, then completed her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. She then pursued her dedication to orthopedics through an orthopedic residency at Allegheny Health Network and further specialized with a fellowship in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
Dr. Fuhrman is dedicated to advancing orthopedic knowledge and techniques, having presented at major conferences including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting. She is also an active member of the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS)
Dr. Fuhrman will see patients at Orthopedic ONE’s Westerville location.
